Egypt

Cairo is a bustling city with traffic you can only imagine in your worst dream. We stayed at the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza as well as the Four Seasons Residence. The Egyptian Museum of Antiquities houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian art including the gorgeous Treasures of Tutankhamun, and a visit to the famous market Khan El Khalili bazaar to check out the local arts and crafts was fun. Early in the morning we headed to Abu Simbel to check out the awe-inspiring Temples of Abu Simbel!. The Great Temple of Ramesses II and his beloved Queen Nefertary.

We then continued to Aswan where we boarded the beautiful new Sonesta’s St George ship which we sailed to Luxor. The Aswan Dam and the First Cataract of the Nile was a dramatic site. From here we saw the Temples of Philae, the Unfinished Obelisk, onto Edfu. We took quaint horse carriages to the Temple of the Falcon Headed Sun God Horus. The sights in Luxor such as the Colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Karnak, Amonra and the Great Hopstyle Hall were simply amazing! From there we flew back to Cairo to see Memphis, including the alabaster Sphinx, the fallen colossal status of Ramesses. And of course the awe-inspiring Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza, the only surviving marvels of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World! We saw the Valley Temple and Causeway of Pharaoh Cephren, the Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Cheops. And of course like all tourists… we had a camel ride!
